Well larger coils doesn’t necessarily mean better receive or transmit. The big difference is in the power handling capability.. From real world transmit and receive range, it’s range has not only exceeded all 4ft and shorter antennas, it’s also right up there with the best of 5ft and 63″ antennas (not even a needle whip in signal strength difference). The only shortcoming with this model is it can handle up to 700 watts maximum (which is more than most will ever run on a magnet mount anyways). However, the 700 watts of power handling is still more than double the power handling of most magnet mount antennas in this price range, however it’s coil is not meant for those that have several alternators in their truck, running thousands of watts (700 watts maximum only). However you really shouldn’t be running thousands of watts through any magnet mount antenna at all (we’ll explain why): The tangible, real world difference seems to be just be in the power rating. This antenna handles double the power of most 4ft and shorter antennas, (up to 700 watts) however not as much as the $100 plus magnet mount antennas. Granted their coils handle many thousands of watts, however in reality you really shouldn’t run that kind of power through magnet mount type of ground and especially with small diameter coax cable (you really need the thick (base station sized) coax to run several thousands of watts. So although their coils may handle thousands of watts, their coax cables and using magnet grounding may not be.
