A CB radio diagram will show you how to wire a transmitter and receiver. You will see where to connect your antenna to each wire and what wires to connect to which. If you don’t have a CB radio, you can use a VOM to test the mike pins. You can also use a bare wire or clip-lead to test the RX line. Be sure to test all pins on your radio before making any changes.
The first step in preparing a CB radio for use is to wire it properly. If you have a radio that uses coaxial cable, you will need to attach a red CB radio wire to the central lead of the coax. Attach the black CB radio wire to the shielding. You can find wiring diagrams for other CBs on the internet. You will need to understand the terminology used in the CB radio wiring diagram to make it work properly.
Once you have the right wiring, the next step is to identify the antenna’s impedance. This can be difficult if your CB is using a six or five-pin DIN socket. Fortunately, there are many online resources that can help you study. Once you know the exact impedance of your antenna, you can identify the remaining pins on the socket. Once you’ve found these, you can go on to troubleshoot the rest of the radio.
