How to Use a cB Radio Wiring Diagram
A cB radio wiring diagram is a visual guide for identifying wires and connections. These schematics are roughly three by two inches, and they are useful for diagnosing problems with any radio. To determine which connections are common to both TX and RX, the first step is to connect the bare wire to the common Ground lead. If the bare wire is not connected to any of the pins, it’s probably the TX line.
Generally, CB radios have two kinds of wiring: relay and electronic. Relay-switched CBs require four wires, while electronic switches require at least five. These wiring types are based on the type of microphone used. If you’re unsure about the correct wiring for your CB, consult the manufacturer’s website. If you’re not sure how to install a specific model, a reference chart for that model will help you make the right decisions.
The simplest way to locate the correct audio line is to key a CB that is in another location. This will help you find the TX line and the Mike line. Lastly, locate the ground reference and the positive terminal. These two lines are located at the bottom of the radio. Then, connect the positive terminal to a fuse wire or a ground reference wire. Finally, connect the two audio lines to the TX and RX lines.
